Lady Antebellum have partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), recording a highly personal PSA for the organization in order to help raise both awareness and funds for research.
The trio participated in this campaign since the disease hits particularly close to home, as each member has seen someone in their family diagnosed with cancer in the past two years.
?Like most people, cancer has touched someone close to each of us recently,? said Dave Haywood. ?So, it?s something that?s important to us and we?re proud to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society?s efforts to raise funds for cancer research.?
In the PSA, Hillary Scott discussed how she lost her grandfather to acute myeloid leukemia and shares a deeply personal story about how he imparted his influence on the group. ?He had this deep, booming voice, and he?d say, ?How are you and those two, long-legged boys doing?,?? the singer recalled.
Scott also shared that the Lady A started its first-ever arena tour on the very day her grandfather died, but she was able to soldier on, since she knew he wanted her to be on that stage. She even wistfully mentioned that he now has the best seat in the house.
Clearly, doing whatever they can for this cause is a priority to Lady A, since cancer has left its mark on their personal lives. They are hoping that by working to raise awareness, a cure can be discovered in their lifetimes.
