UVU?s College of Humanities & Social Sciences will present its inaugural Conference on Family Life on Nov.16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Sorensen Student Center on the UVU campus. The conference includes sessions on strengthening and growing family relationships, preparation and planning for parenthood and how families can better manage and cope with adversity.

The conference starts with a keynote presentation from communication and relationship expert Matt Townsend. Townsend uses humor and storytelling with interactive, real-life solutions that inspire motivation and immediate results in building and maintaining successful relationships.

Townsend, who previously worked at Franklin Covey, recently founded the Townsend Relationship Center?where he shares his expertise in relationships, communication and conflict resolution. He also hosts ?The Matt Townsend Show,? which is broadcast every week on KSL News Radio.

Following the keynote address, participants can select from a variety of session topics to meet their interests. The program features three tracks to meet the needs of students, professionals, service providers and community members. The tracks include subjects such as communicating in a marriage, dealing with child anxiety and preparing your family for unexpected events.

Several UVU faculty members will present at the conference in addition to experts and practitioners from the community.

The conference is free and open to the public. To attend, you must register to ensure there is ample classroom space. To register or for more information, visit www.uvu.edu/chss/family/.
