Re: ?U.S. might rein in drones,? Feb. 12 news story.
It?s important to consider the real ethical dilemma of drones. We can permit the military to use a technological safety measure that will keep U.S. military personnel out of danger. We can demand that one or more service members be put at risk in the name of battlefield equality.
To their credit, for those who are sincere in their desire to protect the sanctity of all human life, no matter friend or foe, this is a brave gesture. Even still, it fails to present a truly cogent argument.
The only solution to prevent one side from being physically present in combat while the other is not is to have both be totally present and potentially in the line of fire. This means more sons, daughters, wives and husbands. We should always expect prudence from our military, but not recklessness.
